Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse scored five Grammys last night: Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Song of the Year for "Rehab," Best Vocal Album and Best Pop Vocal Performance. She accepted the award live via satellite from London. Her visa request was denied but then accepted at the last minute. Amy chose to perform closer to home. Us Magazine reports: After accepting her award, an emotional Winehouse, who was joined on stage by her dad and mom, thanked her parents, record label and "incarcerated Blake" — her husband, who has been behind bars since last last year. "I can't believe I've won 5 awards. It's a shame I couldn't be there to accept the awards but I'm so proud and happy that I had the opportunity to perform for the Grammys in my hometown of London with my family and friends around me," she said.

This year's Super Bowl featured the classy and successful Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy. Society appears to be making progress. However, it is clear other barriers still exist in sports and society in general. This great country offers freedoms and protections to minorities, ignoramuses and bigots alike. However, the people also have the power to hold you responsible for hateful actions. For those who spew hatred and discontent, please understand you will be judged by the content of your character. I still have a dream. Do you? Thank you for taking the time to read this entry. Please feel free to voice your opinion by commenting. Tigers, Granderson agree to 5-year, $30.25M deal
The Detroit Tigers could have kept Curtis Granderson around for a while, retaining his talents with one-year deals until he became eligible for free agency after the 2011 season. The Tigers, though, don't just wait around to make moves these days. Granderson and baseball's busiest team agreed Monday to a $30.25 million, five-year contract that includes a club option for 2013 that could make the deal worth up to $43.25 million. .
In and Out
Walk the Line grossed LE 143,130 on just one screen, while Munich and Crash did surprisingly well, earning LE 338,000 and LE 328,000, respectively. Commercial flicks proved they were aptly named, as Peter Jacksons remake of King Kong pulled in a staggering LE 2.5 million. With that, Kong crushed many of its rivals including some Arabic releases Al-Abaa Al-Seghar (Young Fathers) and Tessien Deqiqa (90 Minutes), which grossed LE 470,350 and LE 1.2 million, respectively. Megastars Youssra and Hanan Turk joining forces in Kalam Fel Hob (Talk About Love) earned a disappointing LE 653,757. Still, Hanan Turk is the busiest among Egyptian actors and actresses with a new Ramadan series and at least five (how is this physically possible?) movies to come this year. Lastly, if were going to talk money, heres a look at some of the salary adjustments in showbiz and, generally speaking, were looking at inflation in film stars paychecks for upcoming projects.
Speaker's corner
Suspected drunk drivers in Britain are sometimes asked to try to say, without slurring: "The Leith Police dismisseth us". That was the Leith Police's only claim to fame until now. Now they are all over the internet after somebody leaked some e-mails between the Leith Police and an irate citizen. The correspondence began: Dear Sir/madam/automated telephone answering service. Having spent the past 20 minutes waiting for Leith Police Station to pick up a telephone, I have decided to try e-mailing. Perhaps you would be so kind as to pass this message on to your colleagues by means of smoke signal, carrier pigeon or ouji board. As I'm writing there are 11 failed medical experiments (I think you call them youths) in West Cromwell Street who seem happy to play a game which involves kicking a football against an iron gate with the force of a meteorite.
